About Beedlectrics

Who runs Beedlectrics, what the blog covers, how articles are researched and checked, and how to reach the people who write them.

The short version

What you are looking at is a working blog. Old pieces stay up in the archive rather than quietly disappearing, including the ones that have aged badly.

There was no plan. Harlan Pike kept being asked the same handful of questions about Plain, safety-first guidance on home electrics for ordinary homeowners, got tired of writing the same reply, and put the replies somewhere permanent.

How this is put together

Nothing here is written from a search results page. If we have not handled it ourselves or spoken to somebody who has, we leave the topic alone until we have.

We are independent. Nobody pays for a favourable mention, and the wording of an assessment does not change because a partner asked.

How claims get checked and how money is disclosed is written down separately, on the editorial policy page.

Why this name

People ask about the name. There is rarely a good story behind a domain, and there is not one here either. Beedlectrics was available, it was short enough to say out loud, and it has been the name long enough now that changing it would be more confusing than keeping it.

Bylines

There is no house byline here. Each piece is signed, and each signature leads to everything else that person has put their name to.

Harlan Pike, Electrical safety writer. Harlan writes about home electrical safety for ordinary homeowners, always erring on the side of caution and calling a professional.

Meline Sarkisian, Lighting and energy writer. Meline covers lighting and energy saving at home, focused on practical changes that improve comfort and cut bills.

Wesley Okoro, Home systems and appliances writer. Wesley explains how home electrical systems and appliances work, helping homeowners understand and use them sensibly.

What we do not do

What we do not do is predict outcomes. Nothing about Plain, safety-first guidance on home electrics for ordinary homeowners works that way, and pages that pretend otherwise are selling something.

Where the articles sit

  • Electrical Safety. The safety basics that protect your home and family around electricity.
  • Home Electrics. Understanding how the electrical system in your home actually works.
  • Lighting. Choosing and using lighting well in every room.
  • Saving Energy. Cutting your electricity use and bills with simple changes.
  • Outlets and Wiring. Understanding outlets and wiring, and what is safe to handle yourself.
  • Appliances. Using home appliances safely and efficiently.
  • Games. Video games and gaming, from what we play to how games connect to the rest of life.

Nothing gets filed under three headings at once. If a piece does not have an obvious home, that usually means it has not been thought through yet. The busiest sections are electrical safety, home electrics and lighting.
